Soba Oshou, which translates to "Buckwheat King," is produced in Kagoshima, one of the southern islands of Japan. Although this region is renowned for its sweet potato shochu, Soba Oshou, which is made from buckwheat, is an exceptional beverage. Soba Oshou has quite an interesting aroma, it's sweet but you can definitely tell that it's made from an all natural grain due to the woodsy fragrance it bears. The flavor is quite nice as well, embodying the same sweetness found in its aroma. On the tongue, the taste is quite smooth and clean. The flavor however, changes significantly during the aftertaste. It changes from smooth and clean to a sweet but powerful vapor of alcohol that evaperates on the tongue, similar to the effects of smooth scotch.
