According to the label, "Koi-gusa is described as the 'Love Potion' in [Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream]. Warning: Koi-gusa may not increase your chances of finding love; it is however a damn fine shochu. As different as shochu and sake are, Koi-gusa is almost a fusion of the two. It basically embodies the sweet and fruity qualities found in sake with a shochu kick to it. After experiencing the clean, sweet aroma of Koi-gusa, the anticipation of actually tasting it is unbearable. This rice shochu carries flavors that are clean and soft which are balanced by the same sweetness and fruitiess found in its aroma. The finish is smooth but rather short. Koi-gusa is extremely easy to drink and its taste is truly enjoyable. It would be a great introductory shochu for those who really enjoy sake but aren't so keen on intensely flavored beverages such as sweet potato shochu.
