Another great sweet potato shochu hailing from Kagoshima. Produced in Minami Satsuma City, Fukiage Shochu uses the infamous Satsuma sweet potato as their main ingredient for Futan. Like most sweet potato shochus made with black koji, Futan possesses a slightly earthy aroma which is easily recognizable in its taste. Once on the palate, Futan has a full-bodied taste that is balanced with a brilliant sweetness. The aftertaste is a quite pleasant nuttiness coupled with a hint of sour.
